Deep Meaning · English
In this verse, Krishna reveals the nature of the 'Mahatman,' the great-souled one who has transcended the delusory identification with the material ego. This transformation is not merely a change in behavior, but a fundamental shift in refuge—they have sought shelter in the 'Daivi Prakriti,' the divine potency of the Lord. By anchoring themselves in this higher energy, they are no longer swayed by the lower gunas (modes of material nature) that keep the common soul bound to the cycle of birth and death. Having realized that the Divine is the eternal, immutable source (Bhūta-ādim Avyayam) of all existence, their devotion ceases to be a transactional ritual and becomes a spontaneous, continuous state of being. The term 'Ananya-manasah'—exclusive, one-pointed devotion—signifies that there is no space left for a 'second' entity. In the Advaitic sense, the devotee recognizes that the 'origin of all beings' resides within their own heart, yet they maintain the sweetness of Bhakti (devotion) as the method to dissolve the final veil of duality. They worship not because they are separate, but because they have recognized the Unity of existence and are thus compelled by love to offer their entire being back to the Source from which they emerged.
True greatness lies in the recognition of the Divine as the sole source of all, allowing the soul to transcend material conditioning and rest in a state of undivided, love-filled awareness.
