Deep Meaning · English

In this verse, Krishna reveals the fundamental non-duality of existence, identifying Himself not merely as a distant Creator, but as the intimate, multi-dimensional source of all life. By claiming the roles of Father, Mother, Sustainer, and Grandsire, He shatters the notion of a 'thing-in-itself' separate from the Divine; He is the origin, the womb, the support, and the eternal lineage of the cosmos. This is a profound assertion of Panentheism, where the universe is understood as an unfolding of the Divine essence rather than a mere mechanical construction. Krishna is positioning Himself as the Totality, encompassing every relational role that defines human experience, thereby inviting the seeker to see the Divine in all levels of reality. Furthermore, by identifying Himself as the goal of knowledge (vedyam), the supreme purifier, and the sacred syllable Om, Krishna establishes that all intellectual pursuits and ritualistic traditions are simply different pathways back to the same immutable Source. He is the vibration from which all Vedic wisdom arises, suggesting that spiritual growth is not an accumulation of external facts but a process of purifying one’s consciousness until it resonates perfectly with the 'Om' that underlies the entire cosmos. In this light, Arjuna—and by extension every seeker—is taught that the search for truth is simultaneously a search for one's own deepest Self, which is inextricably bound to the Lord.

Krishna is the singular, non-dual source of all existence, simultaneously embodying the primal relationships of the universe and the foundational wisdom that leads the soul back to its origin.
