Deep Meaning · English

In this verse, Krishna reveals the intimate, compassionate nature of the Divine-as-Guru. By stating that He dwells within the 'ātma-bhāva' (the heart-space or the seat of the soul), Krishna shifts the seeker's gaze from an external deity to an inner reality. The darkness of ignorance is not an ontological reality but a veil, a shadow born of the ego's separation from its source. Krishna asserts that His act of destroying this darkness is not an external intervention, but an spontaneous outpouring of grace from within the seeker’s own center of consciousness.

Grace is not something that arrives from afar; it is the Divine awakening within the heart, manifesting as the luminous light of Self-knowledge that dissolves the illusion of separation.
