Deep Meaning · English
In this verse, Krishna reveals the principle of 'Vibhuti Yoga,' showing Arjuna that the Divine is not merely a distant Creator but the underlying essence that defines the excellence and inherent power in every manifestation of existence. By identifying Himself with Prahlad among the Daityas (demons), Krishna illustrates that spiritual devotion is not bound by lineage, environment, or social categorization; the spark of God recognizes no obstacle in its expression. He is the light within the darkest of places, proving that the Divine presence can emerge even from a hostile context when the heart is surrendered. Furthermore, by defining Himself as 'Time' (Kala) among controllers, the lion among beasts, and Garuda among birds, Krishna emphasizes the principle of 'shakti' or existential potency. Time is the ultimate force that governs change, evolution, and entropy, while the lion and Garuda represent majesty, swiftness, and divine service. Through these metaphors, Krishna teaches the seeker to look past the superficial form of any object or being and perceive the 'Vibhuti'—the specific excellence or power—that acts as a window to the Infinite. This shifts the devotee's perspective from seeing a world of fragmented, independent entities to seeing a singular, radiant consciousness expressing its infinite facets through the myriad forms of nature.
The Divine reveals itself not merely as a presence in the world, but as the supreme excellence and the governing force of order within every category of existence.
