Deep Meaning · English
In this pivotal moment of the Gita, Krishna invites Arjuna to witness the ontological dissolution of all boundaries. By commanding Arjuna to behold the entire universe—both the moving and the stationary—within His physical form, Krishna is not merely showing a visual spectacle; He is revealing the non-dual reality where the Knower, the Known, and the Act of Knowing are unified in the Absolute. The use of the address 'Gudakesha' (conqueror of sleep) is significant, as it reminds Arjuna that he must be fully awakened from the slumber of ignorance to perceive the divine reality underlying the ephemeral world. Philosophically, this verse asserts the immanence of the Divine. The universe is not separate from God, nor is it a creation that exists independently; it is an expression of the Divine consciousness. By seeing everything 'here' (iha), in the body of the Lord, Arjuna is being initiated into a state of vision that transcends space and time. This is the transition from the limited perception of a separate ego-self to the expansive realization that existence itself is the Lila (divine play) of the Supreme, held within the infinite frame of His presence.
The entire universe is not a collection of separate objects, but a unified manifestation resting within the infinite consciousness of the Divine.
